Ideas for the weekend….. Sun in London……?…… At the weekend….??

So the weather man says it’s going to be a lovely weekend by all accounts! And I for one plan to make the most of it!…..

The much anticipated Shakespeare, Shaping the World special exhibition has finally opened at the British Museum this week! The museum has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company to present ‘a unique insight into the emerging role of London as a world city, seen through the innovative perspective of Shakespeare’s plays’. Part of the World Shakespeare Festival (which in turn is part of the London 2012 Festival), the exhibition runs until 25th November. Tickets are best booked in advance from the website and cost £14, although Members get in Free!

My name is Emily and I am a photo booth addict.

Since photo booths popped up a few years ago as party entertainment, I have hired stacks for events and weddings….leaving me with plenty of chances to ‘test’ them out!….I have a whole box full of photos of me pulling various faces and wearing odd wigs and giant sunglasses! Booth Nation provide an awesome range of booths for hire, and to celebrate the growing popularity of the photo booth, they are hosting the first ever Photo Booth Festival this Saturday! There will be food, drinks, music, and of course LOTS of photo booths to play about in! What fun!!!

As long as the sun is shining, why not head to the beach? And for Londoners this July and August, there’s a beach right here in town! The Roundhouse is hosting the Camden Beach on its rooftop, with a tiki bar, deckchairs, ping pong….and of course some bucket and spade action! It’s open from 11am to 11pm daily, and is free to get in….there are also happy hours on Mondays to Fridays from 5pm to 7pm for buy one get one free cocktails.

Open City is hosting two very exciting photo tours this Saturday…. ‘From Wren to Rogers‘ will look at how to photograph the City and focus on its impressive mix of history and modernity….. whilst ‘London Riverside‘ will take in the iconic London river-scape and help to discover the city’s links with the Thames. The tours are about 3 hours long and cost £22.50…. don’t forget your camera!

Following the success of their amazing Stew House this winter, the Dead Dolls Club have teamed up with the London Fields Brewery to host A Summer Affair. Expect a true party atmosphere with DJs, brilliant beers, incredible food, and stalls, as well as BBQ Butchery mast classes. It’s free to get in too!

So it seems it’s been going on forever, but with the opening of the Olympics just a week away, the torch relay is finally hitting London this weekend! On Saturday the torch will travel from Greenwich to Waltham Forest, and on Sunday it makes its way from Redbridge to Bexley. You can keep track of it here….don’t forget your union jacks! Enjoy the sun folks!
