Big loves for….. Tea Time with Terry

On my little jaunt around East London last weekend, I came across a stall I’d not seen before in one of the Truman Brewery markets. Tea Time with Terry‘s pretty prints, lush quality cottons, and summery fresh design really caught my eye….and so I thought I’d share!

Tea time with Terry offers hand made clothing for men and women, including dresses, tops, shirts and night wear. Their range is available online, as well as at their roaming stall at vintage fairs and markets. It’s worth checking them out in person if they pop up near you, as it was the quality of the fabric and finish that impressed me most, although they do offer free delivery so buying online is super tempting!

Their range truly celebrates British summer time, with wonderfully wearable pieces that are perfect for a picnic, chic camping or just faffing about when it’s hot. The cottons are so, so soft, and everything feels amazingly light and crisp.

When I chatted to Tom at the stall, he told me how important it is to him and co-director Hannah that they run a sustainable and socially responsible business. Each piece is hand-stitched in Bangladesh by specially selected tailors, promoting ethical trading and fair pay. And, part of Tea Time with Terry’s profits are re-invested in training and development for their suppliers too!

So….to the booty…..

Olympic Dress, £36

This is the dress that first grabbed my attention…. The Olympic Dress is made in the cutest print. I adore the colours, and the retro vibe of the pattern. It’s a great easy-wear shape, with plenty of fullness at the waist and a lovely not-too-low rounded neckline. And £36 for this beauty? Immense bargain.

Blue Sky Dress, £29.99

And how pretty it their Blue Sky Dress?! It’s a lush, light denim style cotton, and has an elasticated waist band (great for leaving space for a big meal I find). I love the broad but pretty straps, and that it’d look gorgeous with a pretty white blouse underneath on a not-so-hot day. Another bargain, under £30!

Typewriter Times Dress, £35

Perhaps the most adorable though is the Typrewriter Times dress. Wonderful name too! How cute is the little white collar?! It also comes in a lovely coral pink and a pretty lemon shade as well as this lush green. I’d like one of each!

Their bed wear is also beautiful…. I love the little bed time boxer shorts….

Bed Shorts, £6

And because their mens stuff is lovely too, I’m going to break with tradition and list some more boyish stuff (I know you read this boys)….

Green and White Checked Shirt, £28.00

The mens shirts are in the same great quality cotton, and in lots of easy to wear check prints. I really liked that they are cut a little shorter, with a nice rounded hem, so they are easy to wear not-tucked-in over jeans.

Navy pyjama bottoms, £14.99

I can totally see me ‘borrowing’ these pyjama bottoms from the boyf too…. they look so comfy and loungy!

As well as developing and designing their gorgeous clothing line, Hannah and Tom have been working in Bangladesh for over two years on projects to improve the livelihoods and public health of local people, and to reduce poverty. Their mission is to trade fairly and ethically so that Tea Time with Terry can make a real difference. Which is just another great reason to buy I think!
